What To Do In Gatlinburg, Tennessee & Winter Activities and Where To Stay

Today blog post is going to be all about Gatlinburg, TN! As I was in Gatlinburg on our family vacation last week, you guys had many questions about many things! Today, I’m going to take you with me around this magical mountain town and experience the plentiful attractions, shopping, and restaurants that Gatlinburg has to offer!

Grab a coffee or a tee, cozy blanket because this post is going to be long!

This blog post highlights the top experiences that Gatlinburg has to offer.

Let’s starts with the newest attraction and our last one on our trip!

The SkyLift is the original attraction at this park and it serves as an incredible way to enjoy the view of the Smokies and Gatlinburg. As you hop on your chair, the lift will take you up Crockett Mountain to the 500-foot mark.

As you look at the SkyBridge, it’s not hard to believe that it’s the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the US and all of North America. At 680 feet long, it seems to go on forever, taking you from the SkyDeck to the hillside way over yonder.

The bridge crosses over a valley that’s 150 feet below at the center, putting you high up in the air step after step. All along the bridge are steel and wire railings that keep you safe and secure without blocking the view.

As you cross the SkyBridge, you will encounter 30 feet of glass floor panels at its center. If you’re brave enough to cross them, they will make you feel like you’re walking on pure air, putting your courage to the ultimate test.

Thankfully, if you don’t feel like you can do it, you can turn back and go the other way. However, many people love the challenge and even stop in the center to take photos to share on their social media.

Next, is my absolutely favorite and the reason why we come to Gatlinburg every year for the last 4 years, is https://obergatlinburg.com/

If you always wanted to try skiing, this is the perfect opportunity because Ober Gatlinburg offers professional skiing and snowboarding lessons and some easy beginner hills. The ski area is fun for experts too since there are several challenging slopes, as well as a pair of black diamond runs!

We booked 1 hour instructor to teach Anayan snowboard this time! Anayan is so good when it comes to individual, winter sports and picks up anything right away! He was ready to go down the big hill just after one hour of lesson and one hour practice!

We all know how to ski, but snowboarding was new for Anayan. Now is my turn to learn how to snowboard, so Ober Gatlinburg watch me next year😉

Another great winter sport is snow tubing! We started our vacation with snow tubing and riding mountain coasters! We also ice skate and rent bumper cars on ice. Bumper cars on ice are so much fun!

For the snow tubing you have to be 6 years and up, and for the mountain coaster 5.8inch tall to drive on your own!

All attractions are located right at the top of Ober Gatlinburg ❄️

You may want to book your time ahead because it gets busy!

Gatlinburg has many different mountain coasters and we tried three! One of them has a glider right next to it and kids don’t have to be as tall for this one! Anayan is tiny, so we were looking for all kinds of things he can enjoy on his own! Rowdy Bear was are favorite mountain coaster!

You can drive your own car to the top or you can take the tramway ðŸš !

This cable car will take you on a breathtaking 2.1-mile ride up to the Amusement Park & Ski Area. It’s wort riding at least one time of your stay!

Tickets are available online or at the place!

Last, but not least was the indoor water park which was located right inside our hotel!

Tennessee’s Largest Indoor Waterpark, which features a see-through roof that will weather-proof your vacation and give you the opportunity to tan inside all year long. Water temperature is between 85 and 95 degrees. Along with year-round indoor waterpark fun, you will find two outdoor waterparks right outside your guest room door!

While you at the indoor water park remember to check out the Adventure Forest dry, family adventure center. Featuring a 3 story ropes course, multi-level laser tag, black light mini-golf, mega arcade and much more!

To my opinion, Wilderness at the Smokies River Lodge is one of the best hotel in the mountain!

Our room was like a little apartment 1 bedroom with a kitchen, living room, dining room, 1 bath with a shower and a hot tub in the bedroom.
